Generally speaking, outdoor rinks stay open rain or shine, unless there is a thunderstorm, snow or something similar. However, if conditions compromise the safety of players (e.g. after rainstorms or during lighting strikes), captains should end a game immediately regardless. As long as there is just reason for a cancellation, no team will be charged with a forfeit. The safety of players is a top priority, and when dealing with dangerous conditions, it is better safe than sorry.
Please also keep in mind Halifax PLAYS is not liable for injuries if a player chooses to play in bad conditions. Further, PLAYS bears no responsibility, financial or otherwise, for game cancellations due to inclement weather. We do our best to reschedule canceled games, but this cannot be guaranteed.
NOTE: The inclement weather policy is generally inapplicable to indoor sports, although there may be grounds on occasion for canceling/ postponing some games on short notice if driving conditions are dangerous. If this happens, an e-mail will be sent by PLAYS to captains and/ or players.
