With help from the Park West Kickaround Club, Halifax PLAYS has run youth soccer programs since Summer 2014. In addition to our usual sessions at the Halifax Commons, we are now planning an additional youth soccer program in Spryfield for Summer 2015.

  • Days/ Times: Thursdays @ 6-7:30 PM
  • Dates: July 23 to August 27 (6 weeks)
  • Target Age Groups: Children aged 6 to 14, with some flexibility
    • Older children are also welcome, but may be asked to volunteer as junior coaches
    • Some younger children may also be accepted, but on a case-by-case basis
  • Cost: $20 per child, payable here.
    • This is as low as we can make costs, but we do also waive fees/ offer discounts- sometimes even subsidizing equipment costs- so that all can play
  • Format: A mix of skills-related games, drills & scrimmages. Our goal is not to be competitive, but rather to give each child, regardless of ability, a chance to learn, have fun & be involved
  • Key Goals: Instill in children a sense of belonging, a spirit of sportsmanship, an appreciation for teamwork, a commitment to improve their skills, a safe environment to explore physical activity, and a love of the beautiful game, all the while making sure they have tons of fun!
  • Spots: Are presently very limited: Only the first 40 registrants are guaranteed to play
  • Other Details: All genders, backgrounds, abilities & skill levels are welcome.
If this is something you and your child may be interested in, please register here!

If you are have any further questions or were interested for upcoming/ future seasons, we would also love to hear from you: Just contact us @ halifaxplays.youthsoccer@gmail.com, and add yourself to our mailing list to receive notifications of all our upcoming leagues.

We hope to see you & your children on the soccer field very soon!

A Note About our Motivations with Starting This League: Youth soccer in Halifax is expensive for most of the traditional soccer clubs. Children should not be denied a chance to play the beautiful game simply because of cost. For our part we try and reduce costs as much as possible by using a network of volunteers. We want to create an inclusive environment for kids that is focused on them learning soccer skills, making new friends and having fun. For us, more than anything else, our goal is to help children gain a love of the sport & keep them in it. We've tried this model with our youth soccer program in past years, & are excited to start up another season again!
